千田少尉得知后，即刻命令士兵准备抓捕这位神秘女子，上等兵船头正治也被派去参与这次行动。当时，在镇上的郭家顺匆忙赶到炮楼，他是负责联络工作（情报员）的角色，并向千田报告说：“镇里来了个女孩，她说想来找你。”他建议千田应该见她一面。

船头正治和其他几名日军听了都好奇极了，因为她们所在区域内，这些日本士兵根本就没机会与中国女性交流。《常德作战》中记载，他们因为不能外出，所以戏称自己的炮楼为“青春监狱”，这些年轻日军士兵谈论的话题几乎全都是关于异性的事。此前周围所有中国女性都避开这个地方，不像沙市那样的慰安所这里真的看不到任何女性。因此，当听说这位女孩可能就是没有通行证的那个时，他们都非常好奇，不禁议论纷纷。

当祝玲瑛到达时，她穿着粉色底花纹衣服，给人一种摩登而又典雅的感觉。她告诉千田少尉 herself is 23 years old, a farmer's wife from Houcha Village. She had come to the area looking for her husband's relatives but had not been able to find them.

Chinada was impressed by her beauty and elegance, and he invited her to stay for dinner. He asked his soldiers to prepare fruit juice for her, and she drank it with grace. The soldiers were all amazed by her beauty, but they also suspected that she might be a spy.
