在贫困的环境中长大,年幼时期,她便因其出色的歌唱天赋和对黄梅调的热爱而遭到了家族规条的阻挠,这促使她踏上逃离家乡的旅程。她那敏捷的心智和不懈的学习精神,让她在13岁的时候就开始了师从严云高学习黄梅戏艺术,在枞阳、桐城等地展现自己的才华。随后,她又得益于丁永泉先生精心指导,不断在贵池、青阳以及安庆、皖南等地演绎她的艺术。在1947年,她还曾有幸与胡金涛、刘凤云老师共同学唱京剧。而1949年之后,她选择了拜入北昆剧社的一位名演员白云生为师,从而不断汲取各类剧种中的精髓,以此来丰富自身表演技艺。1953年,she加入了安徽省黄梅戏剧团。
her voice is crystal clear and sweet, with a simple yet rich singing style. Her performances are natural and delicate, creating many vivid characters such as Tao Jinhua in "Da Zhu Cao", the Seven Fairies in "Tian Xian Pai", Feng Sufen in "Nü Shi Ma", Niu Lang's wife in "Niu Lang Chao Nü Lang" and Zhao Wushu in the modern play "Feng Shou Zhi Hou". These roles have been adapted into films for all three plays. Over the past 23 years, she has made significant contributions to the development of Huangmei opera art.
